The Micromelon Robot Simulator is now available on both the Microsoft Store and the Mac App Store. If you've ever tried to get a piece of software approved on a school-managed device, you'll know why this matters.
The Simulator is a fully 3D virtual environment for programming a simulated Rover with the same Code Editor we use with the physical robots. Code written for the simulator runs unchanged on a real Rover, and vice versa. That's the whole point. One environment, one set of skills, whether or not the hardware's in the room.
Listing on the major app stores cuts out a lot of the install pain. IT admins can deploy through their normal software management tools, and students at home can install it with a single click. We've had plenty of teachers ask us for this, so it's great to finally have it sorted.
The Simulator ships with a range of built-in environments and challenges, from simple driving exercises through to harder navigation tasks. Useful for homework, extension activities, or as a complete coding platform for schools that don't have physical Rovers yet.
